Although commonly called the 'Bonus', the rules refer to this as the 'penalty' or the 'free throw penalty situation'. In a regulation quarter, you get 4 common fouls without penalty, while in an overtime period you get only 3. NBA Bonus If a team commits five fouls in a quarter or two fouls in the final two minutes of a quarter, they are in the bonus. In the NBA, teams get two free throws every time a player is fouled for the bonus. College Basketball 1 And 1 Bonus. The 2019 NBA draft picks that are selected in the first round will make between $1.6 million and $8.1 million during their rookie season, per Real GM.Each player's salary depends on where he is. Bonus Rule: A running tally is made as each team accrues fouls throughout the each half. When a team has more than seven fouls, one and one free throws are awarded for every common foul thereafter. Once the team reaches 10 fouls, two free throws are awarded for every common foul thereafter.

Many spectators assume the rules of basketball are the same whether they're attending a high school, college, or NBA game.
